Biography
London based, Charlotte is a versatile chamber and orchestra musician and is the founding member of the prize winning ensemble De Beauvoir Piano trio.
Born in 1993 in France, Charlotte Kaslin studied in Paris until 2014 before transferring to the Royal Academy of Music under the tutelage of Josephine Knight and Christoph Richter.
She graduated from her Master degree with Distinction, and the DipRam for an outstanding final Recital, before transferring to the Royal College of Music in Artist Diploma in the class of Alexander Chaushian.
Charlotte is the recipient of many scholarships and awards from organisations such as the Thompson Family Charitable Trust Award, the Peter Halling memorial Prize and the Ann Driver Trust Scholarship.
An experienced chamber musician, Charlotte founded the De Beauvoir Trio with violinist En Yuan Khong in 2019 following their meeting at the Encuentro Santander Festival.
The trio recently won the 3rd Prize of the IX Vainiunas Chamber Ensembles Competition in Lithunia as well as the 2nd prize of the Virtuoso & Bel Canto Chamber Music Competition in Italy.
They were also previously Finalists of the St-Martin-in-the-Fields Chamber Competition, postponed due to Covid-19.
The trio recently performed at Wigmore Hall as part of the 50th anniversary of IMS Prussia Cove to work with composer Thomas Ades.
Charlotte has previously shared the stage with musicians such as Maxim Vengerov, Miguel Da Silva, and performed Vivaldi’s Double Cello Concerto with the Royal Academy String Orchestra, alongside Josephine Knight.
Charlotte shares her passion for chamber music with orchestra playing, and is regularly invited to perform with the Aurora orchestra, as well as in Principal positions in orchestras such as Welsh National Opera, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra 430 de Vigo (Spain), Opera North, Appassionato Orchestra (Paris), Hastings Philharmonic…
Throughout her carrier, Charlotte was fortunate to receive the guidance of legendary artists such as Steven Isserlis, Jean-Guihen Queyras (public masterclass at Wigmore Hall), Gary Hoffman, Steven Doane, Colin Carr, Jerome Pernoo.
